Commitment To Country
As we come to the end of National NAIDOC Week, we reflect, acknowledge and celebrate the rich, vibrant expansive history of our First Nations culture.
This year's theme, “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak Loud and Proud,” celebrates resilience and calls upon us to amplify voices that have been silenced throughout history. At Taronga, we embed ways of working that honour First Nations people, culture, and place. Working together, we believe we are making a greater impact than working alone.
We aim to listen, to learn, and collaborate continuously. Across our two zoos we strive to connect our guests, students, and staff with this incredible Country, which we are proud caretakers of.
This NAIDOC Week and always, join us in deepening our understanding, taking meaningful action, and contributing to a brighter future for all Australians.
Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.

The strength of a circus was the number of Elephants. What is a Zoo without Elephants ? A menagerie. With the establishment of the Western Sydney Zoo ,this could be part of a bigger picture . Most people go to were they can see a real ELEPHANT. Growing up in the 50's ,I have seen many changes at Taronga..

About felling timber in our very small amounts of nature reserves , I think that more native trees be planted in empty lands and selective logging be done there instead of pine trees from other countries be used in plantations being clear felled, Australia has people who can mill on sight so less destruction occurs so with making more natural areas we make more habitats for wildlife, and have more timber instead of total destruction with mining for iron and other metals used for making stuff, the greens party rejected this idea because their hands are in the pockets of clear felling and mining companies

I mean, he did say them more reffering to being top canines in general. But even if they're introduced, they're still the closest thing Australia has to a mega fauna predator post-45k years, barring humans that is.

Dingoes have been here for over 12,000 years. The have earnt their right to be called a natural apex predator. People who make comments like you have such very small minds. Animals evolve, shame that humans don't.
